pretty sure a lot of my hs classmates thought i was a giant homophobe b/c i would get silent/huffy whenever gay people came up.
Yeah I’ve definitely offended some straight people before by not chiming in when they go on those big self-serving “I even think gay people are sort of normal!! Wow go me!!” speeches and such. Like they have such low standards for themselves that they don’t realize they’re still being offensive and annoying even when they’re saying something “positive” about us
i bet the girl gave you that nasty look b/c she thought you were uncomfy with talking about gay ppl and were therefore THE MOST homophobic one
Omg I hadn’t even thought of that you might be right though
She probably thought she was being really progressive even bringing up gay people in the first place, never mind the fact that everyone was calling them weird and disgusting and laughing about it
That’s such bullshit, what subject was it that that would even be a conversation starter?
It was this group doing a presentation on high heels, so at the end they showed a video of this all-male band dancing in high heels and were like “let’s discuss this”. So of course right away people were like “are they GAY” and the girl was like “two of them are gay but two are normal” and wow it just kind of devolved from there
My class was having a really homophobic discussion today (literally the topic was ‘would you want to be friends with gay men?? even though they’re weird deviants??’) and I told the girl next to me, who’s actually also homophobic but less obvious about it, that I was uncomfortable and the girl leading the discussion overheard and gave me the meanest look and kept staring at me for the rest of class
